Built by a learner who got stuck where you do

I went from A2 to C1 myself: TOEIC 985, a TESOL teaching certificate, and classes with around 600 English and Spanish teachers along the way. I work inside the language-learning industry and run the review blog 自研恣語 Trying Lingo, where I test platforms and methods and only write honest reviews.

I'm also a learner-and-teacher assistant and run a startup in the US, so I see the gap from both sides: the textbook English Taiwanese learners are taught, versus the English they actually need the moment they have to use it in a real-life, overseas environment: explaining Taiwan, holding an opinion, sounding like themselves.

Gawa is built around that gap. Every lesson starts from a Taiwanese learner's point of view, helping you put your own culture and everyday life into clear, natural English, while quietly catching the articles, tenses, false friends and Chinglish habits that trip Taiwanese learners up.

Topics come from what Taiwan is actually living and talking about right now: the food, the habits, the arguments, the everyday things only a local would notice. The test for each one is simple: would you want to say this in English?

The lessons are then written to your CEFR level (A2–C1), each section timed, ready to hand straight to your 1-on-1 teacher.

The lessons themselves are drafted by AI from each topic, then spot-checked and corrected when a mistake is reported — not hand-written line by line, but not unsupervised either.
